Types of Cameras

Film Camera

There are two types of cameras which are still used today, there first being film cameras. Film cameras were first commercially produced in 1888 and in order to capture the image, the camera had a roll of film with a set of exposures (normally 16) that captured an image by exposing that film to light for a brief period of time. The film then had to be developed under special conditions after the fact so that you could see what the picture was. This form of imagery was quite popular and had now been replaced by the digital camera however, it's now coming back as a "classic" or novelty form of photography among young and old alike.

Digital Camera

The digital camera was invented in 1972 and after some skepticism has taken the world by storm and is the primary way almost all people take pictures today. The digital camera has gone through several iterations so I will focus on the most import iterations. This major breakthrough allowed for digital cameras wto take a picture using a computer sensor instead of film to capture the image. The benefit of this method allowed people to instantly see the photo they had taken and sense the image was on a removable form of comptuer storage, it could easily be expanded and take many more pictures than a roll of film would allow. It has also become much cheaper to use this form of taking photos as there is no charge to develop the photos just too what the pictures that were taken. Over time technology as allowed digital cameras to get better and become smaller for on the go travel.
